Foundation Collection
The Foundation's collection consists of items donated by the Founder and donors. The Foundation holds an immense collection of Polish and Poland-related stamps in full sheets, likely among the largest in the world. Their importance lies not only in collecting value, but also in documenting the history of Polish philately and building the future backbone of the Museum of the Polish Stamp.
Scope of the collection
The examples below show the scale and importance of the holdings on which the Foundation builds its development. It is especially significant that a large part of the collection survives in complete sheets, opening very different possibilities for exhibition and storytelling than single items alone.
- Poland 1960-2007: complete collection in mint sheets, including complete perforation varieties
- Poland 1860-2007: complete collection in mint single stamps
- Poland No. 1: the largest collection of the first Polish postage stamp
- a complete collection of souvenir sheets issued by Poczta Polska
- camp mail stamps and camp letters
- Europa CEPT 2000: a complete mint-sheet collection from all European issuing countries
- joint issues of Poczta Polska with other countries, preserved in sheets
- Dialogue of Civilizations 2001: a complete mint-sheet collection from countries around the world
- Polish stamps in sheets never introduced into circulation
- Polish stamps in sheets with printing errors
- first day covers for all Polish stamp issues
- a collection of stamps and covers bearing the autographs of people shown on postage stamps
The Foundation treats the growth of its holdings not as an end in itself, but as part of a larger task: protecting, interpreting, and publicly sharing philatelic heritage.
